In environments with a corresponding risk potential, there is an obligation to protect people. This also includes foot protection with safety shoes. There are three common ways to protect visitors' feet.

- Every time new safety shoes are issued. An expensive solution.
- Use washable safety shoes. Requires shoes that can withstand the washing process many times. Such shoes are quite common items, especially in food and hygiene-oriented areas. In other areas, however, the operating equipment is usually not equipped for this (e.g. no washing machine available).
- The use of reusable safety shoe covers for visitors. This is the most cost-effective and effective of the three alternatives.
Are there reusable safety shoes?
The answer is clear: Yes, if you use the right safety shoe.
The requirements for safety shoes for visitors are essentially no different from those of those employees in the areas where safety shoes must be worn at all. The following basic requirements for visitor shoes must be met:
- The necessary safety requirements, e.g. a safety cap in accordance with EN 20344 and EN 12568
- Universal use, suitable for all types of shoes, women and men, all heel types
- Hygiene. No direct contact with the feet of previous visitors via the use of shoes already worn
- Easy to use
- Cost-effective
Which safety shoes meet the requirements?
Reusable safety shoe covers meet these requirements. The Millenium Pied Protect model® can be used for shoe sizes from sizes 35 to 48 and with only three basic sizes, S, M and L. The overshoes have a steel toecap. With an elastic strap, easy to put on over normal street shoes is guaranteed, a simpler application is hard to imagine. Hygiene is guaranteed, as the shoe covers never come into direct contact with the visitor's feet, but are worn over the visitor's footwear and are also washable. A more cost-effective solution is hardly conceivable because of the unrestricted reusability.
Therefore: Yes, safety overshoes for visitors are reusable.
Variants of visitor safety shoes
The manufacturer Gaston Mille already has three different variants of visitor overshoes in its range. The standard model Millenium Pied Protect® has a half-slip, non-slip sole and a steel toe cap that protects against impacts. For areas where additional penetration protection is required, the Millenium Full Protect model has been®developed. In addition to the features of the Millenium Pied Protect® this model has a continuous steel sole. The latest development from the French manufacturer Gaston Mille is the Millenium Premium model®.
