My first day at Allprotec®, the strong brand of AAV Allgemeiner Arbeitsschutz-Vertrieb GmbH, began on 03.07.2023 at 8:00 a.m. I was warmly welcomed by Jürgen Heßing, my contact person and trainer during my 14-day school internship. Right at the beginning we started with a round of introductions of the employees, in which Mr. Heßing used an organizational chart of the AAV. This gave me an overview of the different departments and their tasks.
Afterwards, I was introduced to the various products of the company. It was exciting to get to know the wide range of work equipment and protective equipment that AAV sells. In order to better understand the topic of sales, we worked together on the generation of address material from databases. He also showed me the database program Amicron and how to enter an order in it.
I was particularly fascinated by telephone acquisition, where I learned interesting strategies and procedures from my trainer. I was impressed to see how he turns negative statements into positive ones to convince potential customers.
As the day progressed, I was theoretically guided through the entire sales process. After a well-deserved lunch break, I was then allowed to enter an order on my own and we created an offer together, in which we selected alternative products. It was great to gain my first practical experience and to actively participate in the business process.
At the end of the day, there was a summary and analysis of all activities. It was a challenging but extremely instructive day in which I learned many new things. My expectations were clearly exceeded and I am very much looking forward to the planned customer visits with Mr. Heßing in the next two weeks. I am also grateful for the support and trust that has been placed in me. It's nice to see that as an intern I don't just have to make coffee or make copies, but am actually integrated into the work process and can gain valuable experience. I am excited to see what else awaits me and look forward to an exciting time at AAV GmbH!
