Problem feet at work? This is how orthopedically adapted safety shoes really help

Comfort, protection and compliance with standards – what has changed with the new EN ISO 20345:2022 When it comes to safety shoes, many people think[...]

Safety shoes, worn during work, are often worn for 8 hours a day or even longer. They are exposed to the harshest influences. It is very important to know that personal well-being depends incredibly strongly on the footwear worn. If you wear poorly fitting footwear, this can lead to back pain, posture problems, headaches and vein problems, among other things.

Incidentally, this applies not only to safety shoes, but also to footwear that is worn outside the working world!

Safety shoes against headaches?

Research has shown that foot shapes vary from "slim" in England to "wide" in Baltic regions. German and Italian feet are more in the "middle" range. Manufacturers produce their shoes according to these insights and these should be selected according to your own foot. The shoe should fit! The most important criteria are the right size and, if necessary, (larger) width of the shoe. Because of the hard toe cap, you need enough space in the forefoot area in any case.

Tested safety of safety shoes

Safety shoes are certified by independent testing institutes ("notified bodies") in accordance with EN 20345 and must be used in their original condition in accordance with the instructions for use. If the shoes have to be changed for orthopaedic reasons, BGR 191 applies. This BGR of the employers' liability insurance associations regulates that specially approved orthopaedic shoemakers can carry out changes to footwear without jeopardising certification.

The perfect shoe for every foot

Once you have found the right shoes, you should care for the shoes with a suitable care product before wearing them for the first time. The shoes will also thank you for the continued regular care, especially in damp weather, and this will have a positive effect on your personal well-being in the end.

Damp feet in wet shoes?

Nothing is more unpleasant than slipping into shoes that are still damp in the morning. It is therefore important to let the shoes dry overnight, but by no means on the heater! The leather could become brittle. It is better to stuff the shoes overnight with newspaper and thus bring about effective drying. However, the ideal solution is to have a pair of shoes available to change into. Hence the recommendation: buy a second pair of safety shoes.
