As November draws to a close, the Advent season is just around the corner. Companies often celebrate their Christmas parties during this time and the classic Christmas market visit rounds off the year. Since the situation looks a little different at the moment, the security professionals are asking themselves the question this year: How do you celebrate the Merry Christmas season safely this year?
The new way to celebrate Advent
As soon as the Christmas party is organised operationally, it is considered a community event. The classic Christmas party is thus covered by the insurance of the respective company. After all, a Christmas party is considered a social gathering that promotes the working atmosphere and is intended to strengthen the cohesion of all employees. In pandemic times, of course, this is different. We at the security professionals are also celebrating our Christmas party digitally this year. There are many possibilities and great ideas for this.
Advent & Christmas parties for everyone
It is important that no employees may be excluded from the celebration at an official Christmas party. A Christmas party must always be open to all employees of a company. Every employee is equal and desired. On the other hand, there must be no obligation to participate, because a celebration is always voluntary. Of course, the same applies to a virtual Christmas party. However, it is important that the company management organizes the Christmas party itself or promotes it. At a full-fledged Christmas party, the company's management is required to be present, or should be represented by an adequate representative.
Alcohol rather not in masses
Even if the mind could do with a mood enhancer, the temptation to drink more than is good for you is very high, especially at the virtual Christmas party. Virtual Christmas party ideas, such as a gin tasting via video chat, tempt you to take a sip more than usual. However, you should always keep in mind that excessive alcohol consumption in connection with work never casts a positive light on you.
Christmas time & working hours under SARS-CoV 2
Especially in the cold season and under the current pandemic conditions, the SARS-CoV 2 occupational health and safety standards are binding and even more urgent to comply with in order to protect against other diseases, such as flu or colds. In principle, a minimum distance of 1.5 meters from other employees must also be maintained at work, even in ongoing daily business. The principle applies to all employees: "Never go to work sick". Of course, the important and correct rules for hygiene compliance also apply, such as wearing a mouth-nose protection, as well as regular cleaning of hands.
