The fourth day of my internship has begun and I am full of energy and anticipation. My contact person, Jürgen, and I start the day together with the planning and organization of our tasks. But before we switch to work mode, we treat ourselves to a hearty and delicious breakfast to start the day strengthened.
As we are on the road, the tasks that we have to work through in the free times accumulate. This is part of the everyday work of a sales representative. But before we devote ourselves to these tasks, we make our way to the first customer meeting. The journey goes smoothly and we even reach our appointment a quarter of an hour earlier than planned.
The client we are visiting is an international remediation company with offices worldwide. Each branch has its own budget and is therefore independent in its decisions. What particularly surprises me is that the contact person at the branch hands me his business card despite my role as a school intern. A nice moment that gives me the feeling that I am also valued as an intern.
Jürgen successfully introduces new items to the customer and receives important information about the company that he can use for a project. We leave the customer satisfied and make our way to the next appointment. Jürgen suggests that I rest for 45 minutes during the journey, which I gratefully accept.
At the next customer, we have a one-hour conversation in which Jürgen introduces the customer to various disposable gloves. It quickly becomes clear that there are two professionals at work here. Jürgen mentions that this customer has never bought from AAV GmbH before, which motivates us to convince him of our high-quality products.
After a long day, we make our way back to the accommodation. On the way, Jürgen makes a few more customer phone calls to clarify complaints and take orders. Arriving at the accommodation, we do some remaining jobs before we end the evening together.
Our home has beautiful views that invite you to relax. I am very grateful that I have such a warm mentor as Jürgen, from whom I have already been able to learn a lot. The time spent together with him is varied and I always get new insights into the work of a sales representative. In addition, Jürgen's visits to major customers give me the chance to get to know different parts of Germany.
The conclusion of the day: The week flies by and I am thrilled by the variety and experience I can gain in this internship. Working with my mentor is very pleasant and I feel in good hands in my role as an intern. Jürgen gives me regular feedback on my tasks and supports me in developing my skills. I am excited to see what the coming weeks will bring and look forward to gaining more experience in the field. The internship at this company was definitely one of the best decisions of my life!
