In many areas, disposable gloves are being used with an increasing tendency. In the private consumer sector, disposable gloves are sometimes used (e.g. for simple cleaning work), which are often already available in supermarkets or drugstores (usually in category 1 version, suitable for minimal risks).

Disposable gloves for household use

Disposable household gloves can be optimally used for the following purposes:

    • When cutting different foods, such as onions, garlic and chili peppers.
    • If you may come into contact with offal, blood, vinegar or defrosting liquids during cooking
    • For food allergies and skin diseases (such as neurodermatitis).
    • When washing dishes or washing food (e.g. salsify)
    • For injuries to the hands (e.g. cuts)

Food and disposable gloves

When used in food contact, it is important to know that disposable gloves are also suitable for this. For this purpose, all types of disposable gloves to be used are tested for their suitability in the food sector in accordance with the relevant directives and regulations and a declaration of non-objection is issued. After receiving the certificate, the boxes will be marked with the following pictogram.

Safety testing of disposable gloves

An example of such a safety test can be found here.  In this case, it concerns a disposable nitrile glove, but disposable gloves made of latex and vinyl are also quite common. Vinyl gloves may be limited in their suitability for processing fatty foods.
