Feet are expected to carry us through life every day. To keep your feet healthy, the protection professionals advise changing your shoes regularly.

Change work shoes for ergonomic and fashion reasons

Changing footwear from day to day has not only fashion reasons, but also ergonomic advantages. Just like every street shoe, every work shoe has its own characteristics in terms of shape, cushioning or footbed. By regularly changing the protective work shoes, feet are thus exposed to different stimuli. If you only wear a single pair of shoes, ligaments, tendons, bones and muscles are loaded on one side, resulting in muscular imbalances that lead to health problems.

Change protective work shoes to counteract moisture

Work shoes absorb moisture through long-term wear. A daily change of shoes therefore ensures dry footwear, because the second pair always has one day to air out sufficiently. This significantly increases wearing comfort, because moisture in the shoe quickly leads to an unpleasant feeling or even cold feet. Furthermore, foot odor is contained, because this is an unpleasant consequence of shoes that are too damp.

"I'm glad I have a pair of work shoes to change. This allows them to air out from time to time. This reduces the formation of foot sweat and odor formation in the shoes, as well as one-sided strain on the feet and muscles." – Andreas Klingebiel, Warehouse Manager

The shoe insole should always be removed for airing and drying. For even more effective airing of the shoes, the use of a shoe tree is recommended. If there is little moisture in the shoe, then it is sufficient if the protective work shoes are placed in a well-ventilated place. If there is more moisture, you can put absorbent paper in the shoes. Heat sources, such as heaters to shorten the airing of the shoes, should be avoided because in most cases this will damage the material of the shoe. Leather in particular cracks more quickly, dries out and becomes hard and inflexible.

The protection professionals recommend suitable work shoes

Just as important as regularly changing and airing out the work shoes is that they fit. Therefore, there should be about a thumb's width of space in front of the toes so that there is enough space for the foot. If feet do not have enough space in the shoe, this can lead to serious health problems, such as crooked toes and long-lasting nerve pain.
